Bright Futures ahead: The RGS Careers Department

We warmly welcome Mrs Audrey Williams as Head of Careers at RGS Worcester. Mrs Williams joins the School with a wealth of experience having worked as a Careers Adviser for many years in Reading, Aberdeen, Germany and more recently in Malvern, as well as with the Careers Hub for Worcestershire Careers and Enterprise Company. 

The RGS Worcester award-winning Careers Department has a calendar of exciting seminars and careers-focussed sessions being delivered during the rest of this term and beyond. These aim to give pupils the information and insight into different career opportunities available to them and support their journey to achieve their desired career. This may be through work experience, university applications or working through the process of identifying their own strengths and how these may translate into a fulfilling career. 

This week we welcomed Investin to RGS Worcester to present students with further information about the importance of Employability Skills. The session was an engaging event with a chance for discussion and questions submitted by RGS Worcester pupils in Year Eleven and the Sixth Form. 

Mrs Williams said: “It was great to hear from Emily from Investin this week and for the students to be able to ask frank questions about how to develop employability skills during their time at RGS. It is incredibly valuable for our students to have the opportunity to meet people from organisations like Investin and discuss the importance of gaining soft skills and to recognise the importance of these, for pursuing a successful career in any occupational area.”

Later in the year, there is the opportunity for students to hear from representatives from The Army and Medical Profession, plus more seminars being planned for the Lent term. 

The RGS Careers Department has lots of plans for the coming months and the hope that the RGS Careers Expo will be able to go ahead once again in the late Spring 2022.
