Ready, Set, RGS go!
The start of term has seen RGS pupils across Year Seven to Year Eleven returning to take part in Physical Education (PE) lessons to develop their health and fitness through the activity of Athletics. In particular, pupils have evaluated and developed their running technique as well as participated in a variety of running events over the past three weeks.
Since ‘lockdown’, there have been several stories of pupils being inspired to exercise with friends and develop their Health and Fitness. A particular highlight from Year Ten Games was Elliot Fears, Cailen Jones, Nathan Ruane, Harry Dyer and William French running a range of running events throughout the session last week then asking to run a 10k this week and achieving it through the great British weather of sun, hail and rain clearly demonstrating the RGSW Charter for Sport values.
In other exciting news, RGS Worcester’s GCSE PE course has been introduced to the curriculum and pupils have already begun their log of competitive participation in a variety of physical activities such as Athletics, Cricket and Badminton. Our PE GCSE equips students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to develop their own performance in sport. They develop their understanding of socio-cultural influences on participation in sport, and the benefits of physical activity to health, fitness and well-being.
