Art in the Community
At the start of the Michaelmas term, the Art Department was invited to showcase a selection of pupils’ work in the foyer of the Royal Worcester Porcelain Museum. The venue offers stunning galleries and exciting guest exhibitions, in and around some of the earliest porcelain made in England and iconic objects like Admiral Lord Nelson’s teapot and the Earl-of-Dudley tea-service.
“It is always a privilege to be able to exhibit the work of our talented pupils in the community and this particular location offers some of the City’s most notable history, alongside a popular community hub. This is a great opportunity to present the diversity of approach and techniques that we encourage in Art at RGS.” – Mrs Jo Hunt, Head of Art.
This month the Lower Sixth students took part in a site visit to inspire subject matter with work centred on life in the City of Worcester. Our artists spent the day exploring areas of the City previously unknown to them as well as visiting Worcester’s well-known landmarks.
The next opportunity to exhibit outside the School will be during the February Half term, when our aspiring artists in the Sixth Form will show their work in the Cloisters of Worcester Cathedral.
