An Inspiring Session with Author Alison Jean Lester
RGS LitSoc is back and better than ever! This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from published author Alison Jean Lester. Alison led pupils through the journey of a writer’s life: how to get started, how to get published and most importantly – how to get past that frustrating writer’s block! Starting with her first collection of short stories, Locked Out: Stories Far From Home, Alison shared her writing process, conversations with publishers, and how she has entwined her own personal stories within her writing.
And if this wasn’t enough, Alison has kindly invited members of LitSoc to form a focus group for her newest, unpublished novel. Now we don’t want to give too much away, but Alison is sharing the unpublished manuscript with pupils and returning in a few weeks so pupils can share their feedback and thoughts! As members of the focus group, we already know the title and the plot – but for now, all we can reveal is that it is a Young Adult Adventure novel, and we can’t wait to read it!
