Alumni Excel at the British Championships and Beyond!
At the start of the summer holiday, a select group of rowers participated in the prestigious British Rowing Championships held at Strathclyde Park in Glasgow. Their performance demonstrated their determination, ability and skill on the water.
In the competitive Open J18 coxless quads category, alumnus Tobey Butler, Harry Rutter, Benjamin Koutrouki, and Matthew Smith stood out. Their impressive qualification for the A final, secured by a mere 0.01-second margin, culminated in a commendable 6th place finish. This achievement marked the culmination of their successful season.
Also present at the British Rowing Championships was alumna Menna Sutton who faced challenging conditions in the WJ18 single sculls event. Despite the difficulties, she secured a place in the D final, showcasing her determination and sportsmanship. Over the summer Menna excelled in the Welsh beach sprint trials, earning a place in the mixed double, demonstrating her resilience and dedication to the Sport.
Menna’s Rowing journey continues as she prepares to represent Wales at the Home International Beach Sprints on 9 and 10 September in Saundersfoot.
Congratulations to all our rowers for such a successful summer!
