A Puzzling Week: Medals at Intermediate Maths Challenge
At the start of February many of our best mathematicians from Years Nine, Ten and Eleven took part in this year’s Intermediate Mathematics Challenge. Pitting their wits against 25 puzzling problems, as well as competitors from schools across the country, our pupils achieved an excellent set of results, with 91 RGS pupils being awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold certificates and 18 RGS pupils being invited to take part in the follow-on rounds for the highest achievers nationally.
RGS pupil and talented Mathematician, Jacob Hartley achieved the highest score with a very impressive 112 out of 125. Many congratulations to all who took part.
Here is one of this year’s questions – see if you can work it out!
