How do I Apply?

RGS The Grange Admissions Introduction

The early school days are a precious time in your child’s life. The fundamentals must, of course, be right, but it must also feel right. It’s a decision driven as much by the heart as the head.

Our Admissions Team is here to guide you through the process, supporting your decision-making at every stage.  Please don’t hesitate to get in touch for advice at any stage of the process.

A Step-by-Step Guide

There are five key stages to the admissions process. We guide you through the steps at the right pace for your family. You can enter your child for immediate entry or for future years. We tend to complete the paperwork in the year preceding admission.

Step One Visit Us

Step One: Come and Visit

Choose from an Open Morning or visit us on a school day. You can get a feel for us, meet teachers and pupils, explore the grounds and facilities, and talk to us about your aspirations for your child.

You will be guided around the School by our wonderful teachers or pupils, who will show you the facilities at RGS The Grange, including our Classrooms, Grounds, and dedicated Sports and Forest School areas. You will be able to gain an insight into what life is like at RGS The Grange, and you will also be able to meet with our Senior Leadership Team, who can answer any questions you may have.

How do we assess?

Like you, we want your child to thrive with us, personally and academically. Our assessment process is designed to check we are the right place for your child. It varies according to the Year group your child is hoping to join.

Nursery

Your child can start the term after their second birthday. We will arrange familiarisation sessions to ensure your child is comfortable with the environment.

Reception, Year One and Year Two

Your child will be assessed informally by the class teacher during the taster day.

Years Three to Six

Your child will be assessed formally, which will involve Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning. These results, alongside data from your child’s current school, will inform our decision.
