Experience Nature
Forest School at RGS Springfield enables your child to develop their confidence, self-esteem, imagination and physical ability. The hands-on learning in our dedicated woodland is such an important part of their early learning experiences.
RGS Springfield’s beautiful grounds are unusual for a city centre school. Our green oasis, surrounded by hedges, incorporates a large dedicated Forest School area. This features a mud kitchen, digging pit, fire circle, willow bothy and a myriad of log piles and trees.
building empathy with the natural world and developing a range of skills for life.
Specialist Forest School Teachers
Our specialist Forest School teachers are passionate about the outdoors and share their love with the children at every opportunity. Within exciting and stimulating sessions, your child will build dens, paint with mud, and have lots of fun. Most importantly, they will build empathy with the natural world around them and develop a range of skills for life.
In our nursery, reception and pre-prep classes, your child will attend forest school at least weekly. In later years, they will have regular visits at various points of the term.
The school enjoys an annual Forest School day, with wood whittling, storytelling and cooking on the campfire for every pupil from nursery to Year Six involved. It is a lovely occasion for the whole school to come together in our grounds.
