The first step of an educational journey
The RGS Worcester Family of Schools have three Pre-Prep School settings at RGS Springfield and RGS The Grange in Worcester, and RGS Dodderhill in Droitwich. Pre-Prep is the first stage of a child’s educational journey after Reception class, and covers Year One and Year Two here at The RGS Worcester Family of Schools.

Teaching and Learning Approaches
Pre-Prep School is an exciting and dynamic learning environment designed to build on the foundations of Reception and ignite your child’s natural curiosity. Our approach is topic-based, and each topic is carefully planned to cover a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, Geography, History, Art, and Science. Using a deliberately creative and imaginative approach, we fully immerse your child in their learning, connecting ideas and themes and fostering a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their academic journey.
Individual Focus
Our small class sizes allow our teachers to give individual focus to each child, nurturing them as individuals, boosting their self-esteem and providing a solid stepping stone to Prep School. Your child can work at their own pace, with stretch and support from teaching staff whenever required.

Exciting New Experiences
We provide rich and exciting experiences with regular trips, visitors, and plenty of opportunities for hands-on investigation and problem-solving. Our Digital Learning Programme (DLP) promotes profound thinking skills and independent learning and is taught alongside traditional teaching methods. As part of our blended learning philosophy, children are introduced to our DLP during Pre-Prep School, and class iPads are provided to help develop their literacy and numeracy skills.
Building and Nurturing Confidence
In Year Two at RGS The Grange, children have the opportunity to go on their first residential school trip, where they develop independence, improve confidence, and embed relationships. This is a very exciting time for them, and they return with strengthened social skills and friendship groups, more independent and resilient from overcoming challenges.
Our Pre-Prep School is also an excellent platform for children to become familiar with Prep School departments, facilities, and teachers, ensuring a smooth transition as they move into the next stage of their academic journey. We aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes a love of learning, creativity, and individuality, setting the foundations for a successful academic career.
