Welcome to the Year Seven Taster Morning

We warmly invite prospective Year Seven pupils to experience a morning at RGS Dodderhill. This is a fantastic opportunity for your daughter to explore our inspiring, all-girls environment, meet our dedicated staff, and get a real taste of senior school life.

Event Itinerary

🕘 9:00 – 9:15 AM | Arrival & Welcome
Guests will be warmly welcomed with tea, coffee, and refreshments. Parents will have the opportunity to meet staff, gaining valuable insight into life at RGS Dodderhill. Pupils will be introduced to their Year 8 guides, who will accompany them throughout the morning.

🕤 9:15 – 9:30 AM | Icebreaker Challenge
To help children settle in and get to know each other, they will take part in a fun and interactive team-building challenge, designed to encourage collaboration, confidence, and communication – key skills for Year 7 success!

🕤 9:30 – 10:30 AM | Experience Year 7 Lessons
Pupils will rotate through two exciting taster lessons, showcasing the broad and engaging curriculum at RGS Dodderhill. Possible sessions include: Science: Explosive Experiments! Hands-on lab work in our fully equipped science laboratory and Computing: Build and Code! A creative introduction to robotics and technology. 

🕥 10:35 – 12:00 PM | The Great Outdoor – Adventures await!
Pupils will take part in an active outdoor session, and an introduction to the opportunities we offer for Duke of Edinburgh and residential visits where we sleep under canvas.  Pupils will get the chance to pitch a tent, use a trangia and light a fire in Forest School. There may be S’more!  Marshmallow and biscuits will be on offer for those successful!

🕛 12:00 – 12:30 PM | Lunch in the Dining Hall
A delicious and nutritious meal will be served in our school dining hall, giving pupils a taste of daily life at RGS Dodderhill. They will sit with current Year 8 pupils, who will share their experiences and answer any questions about school life.

🕧 12:30 PM | Parent Pick-Up & Final Questions
Parents will have the opportunity to ask any final questions and meet with staff again.
