How do we assess?
Like you, we want your child to thrive with us, personally and academically. Our assessment process is designed to check we are the right place for your son or daughter. It varies according to the year group your child is hoping to join:
Nursery
Your child can start the term after their second birthday. We will arrange familiarisation sessions to ensure your child is comfortable with the environment.
Reception, Year One and Year Two
Your child will be assessed informally in reading, spelling and numeracy by the class teacher during the taster day.
Years Three to Nine
Your child will sit an entrance assessment (with English, Maths and Verbal reasoning papers) followed by a short interview with the Head. Entrance assessments are held annually in February, but we are able to consider applications at other times.
Year Ten
In order for your child to settle in and be prepared for the GCSE courses, we strongly advise joining by Year 9 at the latest. However, if you want to discuss your circumstances, please call the Registrar on 01905 778290. Entrance papers in Maths and English and an interview with the Head are required for entry into Year 10.
