OEs Offer Apprenticeships Advice to RGS Pupils
Before Half term, we welcomed two former pupils (OEs) to RGS to advise current pupils on their Degree Apprenticeship journeys.
A Degree Apprenticeship provides the opportunity to pursue a full Undergraduate or Master’s degree while actively working. These Apprenticeships typically span from three to six years, depending on the level of the course and occupational area. Degree Apprenticeships are rising in popularity as they allow the apprentice to gain valuable experience in a professional role, earn a salary, and simultaneously achieve a Degree qualification. Another benefit of this route of study is that the company sponsoring the Apprenticeship covers the tuition fees. As such, Degree Apprenticeships offer a different and funded route to traditional University courses. The breadth of occupational sectors offering degree apprenticeships is growing; however, it does not include every career. Recently, we have seen the introduction of legal Degree Apprenticeships, and last year saw the introduction of the first Medicine Apprenticeships.
A huge thank you to Lydia Jackson (2019-23) and Ben Reynolds (2015-22) for talking about their experiences in Finance and Real Estate with current RGS Worcester pupils who are exploring Degree Apprenticeships as their next step. These valuable and interactive sessions are organised by our Careers Department, and we are always grateful to the many former pupils who support current pupils by sharing professional advice.
It was such a pleasure to hear how much both Ben and Lydia are enjoying their work and studies, and it is incredibly useful for current pupils to find out more about the world of Apprenticeships by asking questions and hearing all about what happens as a part of these exciting opportunities.
