RGS Unveils Exciting New Facilities
The new academic year at RGS Worcester has begun with several exciting upgrades to our facilities, ensuring our School looks better than ever. Over the summer, a range of refurbishment projects were completed, including new refurbished Netball courts, Science labs, the English Department, and the new Languages Hub.
We are thrilled to unveil our brand-new Tennis and Netball courts, which now feature an enhanced spectator area. These state-of-the-art courts provide an exceptional environment for pupils to hone their skills, whether during Games lessons or recreational time. With the addition of a dedicated spectator area, parents can enjoy a enjoy an excellent view of the matchplay when attending fixtures.
Our English Department and Science Labs have also undergone significant improvements, resulting in brighter, more inspiring learning environments. We are confident that these refreshed spaces will greatly enhance the academic experience.
One of the most exciting transformations is the overhaul of our former Language Lab, now reimagined as the LanguageHub. This innovative teaching space offers a dynamic, flexible environment designed to move away from traditional classroom setups. Instead of rows of desks, the new multi-zone format allows various activities to take place simultaneously, promoting a more engaging atmosphere for language learning. The goal is to help pupils feel more comfortable conversing in foreign languages, boosting confidence and collaboration.
The LanguageHub features distinct zones to support different stages of language learning. In one area, pupils can focus on pronunciation and listening skills using our online language lab, Sanako Connect. While this was previously done in the more rigid layout of the old Language Lab, the new setup allows for seamless integration of various learning elements. Another zone is designed for pupils to prepare foreign language conversations or presentations in a more traditional desk-and-chair format, which can be rearranged for activities like board games. The third zone, with its relaxed sofa seating, is ideal for practising dialogues or presentations in a comfortable, informal setting, helping pupils feel less intimidated by public speaking.
In addition to these innovative spaces, the LanguageHub boasts a state-of-the-art digital projector and cinema-style surround sound system, allowing the room to be easily transformed into a cinema club for foreign language film screenings. The multi-purpose furniture also makes it perfect for reading sessions, where pupils can enjoy reading foreign language books and magazines.
Languages are often taught within the confines of a classroom, but their true application lies in the wider world. The LanguageHub bridges this gap, providing an environment that mirrors real-world interactions, while also offering teachers new and exciting possibilities for languages instruction. A big ‘thank you’ goes to our Estates team for their hard work in preparing this fantastic space.
We look forward to seeing our pupils thrive in these newly improved facilities.
