Careers Seminar Provides Insights into the Teaching Profession
This week, RGS Worcester had the pleasure of welcoming Daniel Bate, a Primary Lead Mentor at Haybridge Alliance School-centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), for an insightful Seminar on pursuing a career in teaching.
Dan shared his journey, starting with a History degree followed by a PGCE, the classic route into teaching. Dan stressed that teaching offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. He fondly recalled the impact a teacher had on him in Year Four, highlighting the profound influence teachers can have.
Teaching, Dan explained, is not just a job; it’s a fulfilling journey of continuous improvement and growth. He outlined the career progression from teaching to leadership roles, emphasising the satisfaction and rewards that come with the profession.
The Seminar also shed light on the innovative programme offered by Haybridge Alliance SCITT in partnership with Birmingham City University. Dan described a practical course that combines classroom experience with academic study, tailored placements, and a supportive learning environment. Graduates of the programme earn a BA Hons in Primary Education and Early Years qualified teacher status.
Pupils were engaged, asking insightful questions that reflected their interest in the teaching profession. Dan’s passion for education was evident throughout the Seminar, inspiring attendees to consider teaching as a rewarding career path.
