Inspired by the Careers and Higher Education EXPO 2024
Yesterday we were delighted to welcome over 160 delegates and several hundred RGS pupils and parents to our Careers and Higher Education EXPO, along with pupils from other Worcestershire schools. The event is the largest Careers Fair in the Worcestershire area with over 100 exhibitors in attendance ranging from Universities and employers to Apprenticeships providers.
Over 50 careers and industries were represented, with organisations and businesses joining the event from a wide range of professions including Solicitors, the Army, careers in medicine, finance and engineering as well as many other professional services. Engineering was represented by Aston Martin Lagonda and Yamazaki Mazak UK Limited.
The Careers EXPO was a fantastic opportunity for RGS pupils and also pupils from secondary schools across Worcester to find out about the opportunities awaiting them post-Sixth Form, whether they wish to pursue Higher Education at University, delve into Degree Apprenticeships, or venture into the realm of future careers. In the Headmaster’s words in the Event Guide, “You are certain to find something that ignites your passion and fires your curiosity!”
With over 700 visitors attending the EXPO, pupils enjoyed the opportunity to explore their future career opportunities. It was lovely to welcome delegates from such a range of different careers, companies and institutions, many of whom are former pupils or parents.
The co-ordination of the EXPO was masterminded by Head of Careers, Mrs Audrey Williams and the Careers Administrator, Mrs Helen Kirk. Mrs Williams commented, “This year we welcomed representatives from a wide range of organisations, businesses and professions including NHS, the Armed Forces, Solicitors, Architects, Technology, Engineering, Accountancy and Finance. As a major event of its kind in the area, the reputation of the RGS EXPO attracted considerable interest both locally and further afield, with exhibitors travelling from as far afield as Newcastle, Queen’s Belfast, Falmouth and Exeter. London institutions include University College London (UCL), Imperial, Royal Central and Royal Veterinary College London. Many other leading Universities were also in attendance, advising on Higher Education options, Degree Apprenticeships and work experience too.”
The Expo proved to be a great success with the atmosphere around the School buzzing as pupils chatted with the delegates, gaining insights into the myriad of career opportunities available to them in the future. A huge thank you must go to all of the delegates for attending and supporting this annual event. Thank you also to RGS staff for assisting in the smooth running of the EXPO and, of course, a huge thank you must go to the Careers Department for arranging and providing such a fantastic opportunity for the pupils.
