Help for Heroes
RGS pupils and staff have been invited to support a fantastic charity event in aid of Help for Heroes. Head of Hockey, Miss Leanne Bennett, a member of the Hockey for Heroes squad, will be embarking on ‘Operation Last Post’ in less than eight weeks’ time. This nine-day challenge will see Leanne and her team travel across the country, taking on various physical, mental, and endurance challenges to cover at least 457km, whilst also playing 54 games of hockey. The significance of the distance represents those lives lost in Afghanistan, serving for our country.
The objective is to raise collectively over £100,000, with Leanne’s individual target being £700. All proceeds will go to the Help for Heroes charity. The tour will begin in the north of England and finish in Portsmouth, passing through Worcester International Hockey centre on Day 6 of the challenge: Wednesday 31 May. On that day, there will be both matches played at the Hockey Centre at 15:00, 17:00 and 18:30, along with various activities provided and entertainment. Everyone is welcome to come along and show their support and watch some high-quality hockey.
This is an amazing initiative for a great cause and the RGS community encourages everyone to show their support for Miss Bennett and the Hockey for Heroes squad. Please mark Wednesday 31 May in your calendars and come along and enjoy a day of high-quality hockey and show your support. You can also donate to Leanne’s JustGiving page here.
