Looking to the Future
Last Friday, we were delighted to welcome Year Six pupils from RGS The Grange and RGS Springfield for their Taster Day at RGS Worcester. The morning began with a Science lesson for the six groups, which involved solving a murder mystery through scientific analysis in the laboratory. This was followed, after a short break and snack, by a chance to try a creative activity. For the final lesson of the morning Year Six pupils experienced just how fun more advanced Digital Learning can be, with programming our very own Sphero robots and putting them to the test through a number of challenging courses, whilst trying to get their individual Spheros in the goal after programming their robots.
Pupils were guided by our Sixth Form Pastoral Prefects throughout the day, supporting them as they will do when they start at the Senior School in September.
Later in the day pupils were treated to the Matinée performance of ‘Zorro the Musical’ by our talented pupils in the Performing Arts Centre. Also watching the performance were pupils from RGS Dodderhill and also from various local state schools including Northwick Manor Primary, Bishop Perowne C of E College, and New College Worcester (for pupils who are blind or partially sighted). Our visiting pupils enjoyed ice creams during the interval and appeared genuinely inspired after the performance, asking a number of humorous, inquisitive and enthusiastic questions for the cast to answer.
We would like to thank RGS Springfield and RGS The Grange Year Six pupils for taking part in our Taster Morning so enthusiastically. We would also like to thank Northwick Manor Primary School, New College Worcester and Bishop Perowne C of E College pupils for joining us for the afternoon. It was a really enjoyable day for everyone.
