Chess Success
Last weekend saw Year Eight pupil, Cameron Henry, compete in the national Delancey UK Chess Challengers Terafinal, the largest junior chess tournament in the UK with children coming from all corners of the country to take part.
Cameron had to qualify through two previous tournaments to make it through to the final 70 children, which saw him playing in nine long matches, each lasting anything between 40 – 90 minutes over the two days.
Cameron said, “Although I didn’t win I was pleased to be ranked in the top one per cent for my age group. It was a tough weekend with lots of brilliant players.” It is the third consecutive year Cameron has qualified for the Terafinal Challengers.
