Festive Fun on the Netball Courts
It has been a tough term with regards to Netball, as Covid-19 has stopped many of our usual sporting events from happening. The fixture list has been decimated and the new coaching team have had to run very different practices. No squad has been more affected than the Seniors, who would normally be going on mini-tours and competing at a high level in a mixed Year group team. That is not to say the girls have not trained hard, progressed in their game play and developed their technical knowledge and ability.
The restructuring of the coaching team did mean that we said farewell to Mrs Atkins, who, as Head of Coaching, has made a huge contribution to RGS Netball and we would like to thank her for all the guidance and mentoring she has given to a generation of RGS Netballers. She will still continue her close relationship with the School both as a parent and through her involvement with Worcester Netball Club, who regularly use the School’s courts and have a number of RGS players.
Miss Gibbons, our new Head of Netball, has been a fantastic addition in leading Netball under very challenging circumstances, and nothing showed off her love of the sport more than at the end of term, socially distanced Christmas party! The girls decorated themselves with tinsel as they played matches within their respective Year group bubbles. The whole afternoon was full of festive fun and cheer, culminating in a socially-distanced Year group Christmas sing-off! The Upper Sixth Pupils scraped a win with a lovely rendition of ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ and a choreographed dance. From the whole Netball Team, we would like to wish you a very Happy Christmas!
